This Sunday, 28th October 2018, I’ll be joining KTV Venue Stylists and a host of awesome wedding suppliers at The Big Barn, Ashley, on the Northamptonshire-Leicestershire border. Here’s a look back at a couple of venue shoots I did there for KTV back in May.

The Big Barn, Ashley

The Big Barn has been an event venue for 35 years. It’s perhaps best known for hosting black-tie events and Christmas parties, but its potential as a wedding venue is still to be fully tapped.

From the outside, The Big Barn itself might not be much to look at. If you can get beyond that you’ll see that the scene in which it sits is makes it very special indeed. The Big Barn is surrounded by miles of rolling countryside where Northamptonshire and Leicestershire are divided by the River Welland.

Inside, the venue is fully draped in black and white with fairy lighting creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The Big Barn lives up to its name by being able to cater to parties of up to a whopping 500 people.

Back to the two days we spent at the venue in May. The first was one of the bluest-skied days I can remember. The only downside was that it was rather windy, making it difficult to keep the outdoor table settings in place!

KTV worked in conjunction with Sanbella Bespoke Floral Design to provide a variety of floral options for their numerous chosen colour palettes and table layouts. We played around with ideas both inside and out.

Bridal Preparations

Our second day at The Big Barn was intended to primarily showcase the outdoor space, complete with a fully made-up bride.

The day started for me with a visit to Salonista’s gorgeous hair and beauty salon in Corby’s Old Village. Danielle from Unorthodox Make-Up Box was on hand to showcase her make-up skills.

It literally was one of those evenings where we just had to keep going out and playing as the light changed.

Amy from Tipple & Mane, a gin and prosecco bar company, popped along for the evening to add some atmosphere to proceedings.

So, we come to this Sunday’s wedding fair, which is being hosted by KTV Venue Stylists. The doors are open from 1100 to 1500. The Big Barn’s postcode is LE16 8DA. You’ll find wedding caterers, wedding cake-makers, jewellers, wedding stationers, wedding entertainment, wedding dress suppliers, wedding car hire as well as wedding photographers (nudge, nudge) represented. Pretty much everyone you need to make your wedding awesome!

It’s a venue I look forward to spending much more time at in the coming years, as I am now the recommended photographer.
