Liz & Craig were brave enough to set a November date for their special day and were rewarded with glorious – albeit cold – autumnal conditions.  The wedding took place at the Abbey Hill Golf Centre, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.  I was delighted to be booked to provide my wedding photography services.

Wedding Preparations – Hotel Mercure Milton Keynes Abbey Hill

More and more golf courses are opening their doors to wedding parties, and Milton Keynes’ Abbey Hill Golf Centre is no exception.  Let’s be honest, who can blame them?  In many respects they are tailor-made for such occasions.  Most have conference rooms and are used to hosting large parties of guests.  And, by their very definition, golf courses are large, green areas that often contain attractive features like trees and lakes – ideal for your wedding photos!

Liz & Craig’s wedding was my first at the venue, and each got ready for their big day at the adjacent Hotel Mercure Milton Keynes Abbey Hill.

Wedding Ceremony – Abbey Hill Golf Centre

The ceremony itself took place before a select band of guests and included a few more-unusual elements.  The celebrant who conducted the ceremony invited guests to ‘warm’ the wedding rings as they were passed around the room.  They were encouraged to send messages of love and good wishes as they held them.  The couple also engaged in a handfasting, where they crossed and joined hands, forming the symbol for infinity.  Their hands were then tied together using ribbon; the origin of the phrase ‘tying the knot’.

Following the ceremony, we commandeered a couple of golf buggies and headed out onto the golf course, where we captured some lovely images featuring the colours of autumn and even an appearance or two from the sun.

Wedding Breakfast & Reception – Abbey Hill Golf Centre

Guest enjoyed an excellent three-course Wedding Breakfast, before speeches from the Groom, Father-of-the-Bride and Best Man.

It being Bonfire Night, it was only fitting that there were some fireworks, and at their conclusion the happy couple cut the cake and entered into their First Dance as husband and wife.

Wishing the new Mr & Mrs Macmillan all the very best for long, happy and healthy lives together.
