Wicksteed Park, Kettering, Northants, hosted its excellent 2017 fireworks display on Saturday, 4th November. I provided my event photography services.

Wicksteed Park, Kettering – Fireworks Display 2017

Those who have driven past the Park in recent times might have caught sight of the awesome wicker ‘stag man’ that was this year’s Bonfire Night effigy. Herne the Hunter first appeared in Shakespeare’s work The Merry Wives of Windsor and is said to have roamed Windsor Forest and Great Park, riding a horse, tormenting cattle and rattling chains.

The evening itself was kicked off by the ever-brilliant Big Bopper himself, Damian Cox, performing MC duties. He was joined on stage by Heart drive time presenter Gareth Wesley.

Two bands from Tresham College of Further & Higher Education appeared on stage either side of a lantern parade and the lighting of both Herne and the massive bonfire.

 

Elsewhere on site was a funfair and options for people to get something to eat and drink.

Literally thousands of people poured into Wicksteed Park in the run up to the main event. The incredible fireworks display they were all treated to was put together and choreographed by MLE Pyrotechincs and lasted a full twenty minutes.

Big Bopper Entertainment brought proceedings to a close with a disco in the Pavilion.

All told, it was a great night raising funds for the upkeep and development of the park.
