Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East Wedding

Lucy & Stuart were married in a beautiful ceremony at the Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East on Saturday, 15th October 2016. I was honoured to be their wedding photographer.

The Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East is actually on the outskirts of Newport Pagnell, where Lucy & Stuart live.

Their ceremony was conducted in The Carrington Suite, one of the venue’s licensed rooms, where the couple’s families played significant roles in the proceedings.

Cones of chips and delicious-looking mini Yorkshire puddings and beef were served to guests during the drinks reception at the end of the wedding ceremony.

I met with Lucy and Stuart a few weeks ahead of their wedding day, and we found a few spots in and around Newport Pagnell itself for “couples shots”. It had been raining during the service, but thankfully that had stopped by the time we parked up in town.

We began at Tickford Bridge – the oldest iron bridge in the UK that still carries road traffic and also the oldest iron bridge in the world remaining in constant use. It was built in 1810 and spans the River Ouzel (sometimes known as the River Lovat locally).

Other stops included a nice bend on the Ouzel where the tributary meets up with its parent river, the Great Ouse, some garden-type features and what was once a large beech tree that has been cleverly carved into a house.

We headed back to the venue to capture the group shots in the central outdoor area ahead of the Wedding Breakfast.

Wedding Breakfast & Reception: Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East, Newport Pagnell

During the wedding ceremony part of The Carrington Suite had been partitioned off. For the Wedding Breakfast, the whole room had been opened up and it looked fantastic.

With the sun putting in an appearance, albeit only briefly, we popped outside for a few pictures with a stunning yellow Lotus. It belonged to one of Stuart’s friends.

We also took the opportunity to bag a few other shots in and around the hotel.

Speeches followed and then an impromptu (but highly amusing) game of Mr and Mrs.

The hotel staff then turned the room around ready for the evening’s action. As well as a DJ, the happy couple had also arranged for a photo booth and a chocolate fountain to be present.

Lucy & Stuart went straight from the cutting of their cake into the first dance as husband and wife.

All in all, it was a great day with truly lovely people who were only too willing to humour me throughout.
