Tesco – Salvation Army Toy & Coat Donations – Event Photography

Either side of Christmas 2022, I provided my event photography services for both Tesco’s toy and coat donations to the Salvation Army at the latter’s distribution centre in Wollaston, Northants, on behalf of Tesco PLC.

Tesco – Salvation Army Toy Donation

The first of the two donations saw Tesco donate a whopping 3,500 toys to the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Present Appeal.

The lorry-load of toys included pallets of items such as Peppa Pig playsets, jigsaws, Hot Wheels, Paw Patrol sets, Lego sets, Teamsterz Monster Moverz, Rainbocorns and Cry Babies Dolls.

In 2021 the Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal provided support to more than 96,000 children across every corner of the UK.

After arriving at Wollaston, the contents of the pallets were broken down and re-sorted ahead of being distributed to the local branches of the Salvation Army who will put them in the hands of those who need them.

Staff members from Tesco’s Wellingborough store were on hand to help with the sorting process, and everyone entered into the Christmas spirit.

Tesco – Salvation Army, FareShare & The Cottage Family Centre Coat Donation

The second donation, in February, saw Tesco donate almost 4,000 brand new F&F coats to help families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

2,000 of the coats are destined to be distributed by the Salvation Army, with a further 1,000 each going to FareShare and The Cottage Family Centre children’s charity in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. FareShare is a food charity, and they, along with the Salvation Army, will distribute their share to their network of local community groups across the UK. The Cottage Family Centre provides a range of support to families and individuals.

In addition to the physical provision of the coats, Tesco is also making a financial contribution to help each charity get the coats to those who need them.

Included in the Tesco delivery were pram suits for babies, zipped jackets and coats suitable for all ages from toddlers to teenagers and in a variety of colours and styles.
