Debi & Darren were married at the stunning Normanton Church, Rutland, on the banks of Rutland Water on Saturday, 25th June 2016. I was privileged to provide my wedding photography services to capture the magic of their day.
Wedding Ceremony – Normanton Church, Rutland
It’s fair to say that Normanton Church is something of a unique venue in which to get married. The Gwash Valley was scheduled to be flooded in the 1970s in order to create a new reservoir to accommodate the requirements of a growing population. Were it not for the public outcry that followed, Normanton Church would have been lost for good, having been partially submerged and disconnected from the shore. The lower levels of the church were ultimately filled with rubble and a new floor was constructed, some 60cms above the waterline. A causeway was built to connect the building to the land and an embankment was built surrounding the church.
Debi & Darren decided to cross the county border from Northamptonshire into Rutland to exchange their wedding vows. The afternoon began with heavy rain, but thankfully the ceremony was scheduled for 1630, by which time conditions had improved considerably.
It was a beautiful ceremony in the idyllic venue. We sadly had very little time for photographs outside afterwards. The party was set to move on to the Holiday Inn in Corby.
A bright red Routemaster bus had been booked to transport everyone from the church to the reception venue.
Wedding Breakfast & Reception – The Holiday Inn, Corby
The newly-weds broke with tradition somewhat for their Wedding Breakfast and shared a delicious barbecue spread with their guests.
The evening entertainment included a roulette table, which proved popular with those in attendance.
With very best wishes to Debi & Darren for their lives together.
