Angela & Chris decided to break with tradition and were married at Northampton Guildhall on Halloween – Monday, 31st October 2016. I was delighted to be booked to record their very different day as their Northampton wedding photographer.
Wedding Ceremony – Northampton Guildhall
Northampton Guildhall is a stunning neo-gothic building standing on St Giles Square. It was designed by Edward William Godwin, a progressive English architect-designer, between 1861 and 1864. It is home to Northampton Borough Council and hosts a range of civic events, including weddings and civil ceremonies.
After a foggy and cloudy start, Angela & Chris were treated to a beautiful afternoon for their wedding ceremony.
Angela looked amazing in her rich red dress with matching black and red bouquet. It’s always a pleasure to photograph something a bit different and this most certainly was that!
The ceremony was a beautifully intimate affair with only Angela & Chris’s very closest family members present.
At its conclusion we headed out onto the steps for some formal group shots before the party moved on to the reception venue.
Wedding Reception – Old Grammarians Memorial Sports Field, Wellingborough
It being an autumn wedding, and with the weather playing ball, there were some gorgeous colours around us. Angela’s dress just topped things off perfectly.
After getting some couples shots I encouraged the new Mr & Mrs Butlin and their children to go for a bit of a wander around the field.
Following this the Halloween theme was really ramped up. The reception room had been decorated with all manner of spooky props and guests, including the happy couple (!) had their faces painted. Again, this was an opportunity too good to miss, so we headed back outside, where we’d been told the scene was becoming quite eerie.
I’m not entirely sure what that is making a guest appearance in this picture, but I like to think it’s a bat! 🙂
Guests enjoyed a fab buffet before Chris and his dad made speeches and the couple had their first dance as husband and wife.
With very best wishes to Mr & Mrs Butlin for long, happy and healthy lives together.
