2021 saw me finally open my newborn photography studio and start the transition from “Meh” to “Yeah!”
Newborn Photography Studio near Kettering
Undoubtedly the biggest change for me in 2021 was the long-awaited (thanks, COVID!) opening of my newborn baby photography studio. Up until the launch, I’d been visiting new parents in their own homes to capture shots of their new arrivals. While that had produced some OK results, I was always conscious that they still fell some way below what I felt was possible and what I wanted to deliver. The obvious solution was to have a more permanent, purpose-built setup at home.
The layout still gets tweaked from time-to-time, but it’s getting pretty close to perfect now.
New items are getting added all the time, from props, to blankets and wraps, to outfits and finishing touches. I must admit, I do find it all a bit addictive and have plans in my head already for the next batch of purchases! But that’s a good thing for those of you who book 😊
A second pair of hands
Without doubt, the other most significant change in 2021 has been Nina joining the team as my assistant. Her 20 years of experience as a nanny to a number of different babies is worth its weight in gold. We’re now starting to gel really well in terms of knowing what looks good and what doesn’t, too.
Unquestionably the quality of output has taken a massive leap since opening. We’re very acutely aware that we still have a number of poses to perfect, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. We’ll get there, and I’m genuinely excited about the direction it’s all heading. Photographing newborns is so tremendously rewarding, and they change so fast. It’s a beautiful way to remember how they were at their tiniest.
Nina’s still nannying full-time, so we really are limited in terms of the number of newborn sessions we can offer each month. That’s why it’s especially important for you to get in touch as soon as you can before Baby’s arrival to ensure a slot is reserved for you in the diary.
Sitter Sessons – Baby Photography
And the really lovely thing is that the babies I photographed at the back-end of the summer, when they were teeny tiny, are just beginning to cycle through for their sitter sessions! It really is crazy just how much they change in such a short time!
We look forward to welcoming you and your new small person/people into the studio soon!
