Northants Newborn Photo Shoots
by Northamptonshire Newborn Photographer Karl Drage
I’m a newborn photographer with a studio in the village of Woodford, just east of Kettering. The information below will enable you to find out about the Northants newborn photo shoots I offer.
My assistant and I look forward to welcoming you and your new addition into my studio for your own newborn photo shoot. I have been a newborn photographer for several years now, and I like to think the product we offer is getting better all the time.
Your Northants Newborn Photo Shoot
Each newborn baby photography session lasts a maximum of three hours.
Once baby has arrived and we have a firm date for the session in the diary, you will receive a questionnaire from me. There are some basic questions such as Baby’s name, what they weigh (which is actually a really important one, as some of our props are quite small) and who will be attending the newborn photo shoot with them.
Beyond that, there are questions designed to help us work out the aesthetic you’re aiming for; questions about the colour schemes you like, the style of props you would like us to use, whether you like Baby to be wrapped/unwrapped or some of each, and whether you’d like to appear in any of the pictures, too. There are no wrong answers, and we love the fact that we can tailor our sessions specifically to you and your requirements.
During the session we can work our way around the various areas of the studio, each designed to produce a slightly different type of photograph.
Props & Accessories
There’s a wide selection of backdrops to suit every skin tone and an even wider selection of complementary fabric and wrap colours and textures to complete the look. I also have a large (almost certainly the largest in Northamptonshire) array of baskets, boxes, beds and sofa props for maximum cuteness. You are also very welcome to bring anything of your own that has special meaning to you, too.
You in the Shot
We are a tad space-limited, but you will have the opportunity to feature in some of the pictures yourself during your newborn photo shoot, should you wish (there’s absolutely no pressure either way). This can either be in an obvious way, or something slightly more subtle, such as a shot from behind you, looking over your shoulder to see Baby resting in your hands.
I’ve put together this Newborn Baby & Parent Photo Ideas guide to shots we can easily recreate during your own newborn photo shoot.
Those Perfect Details
We can also spend a small amount of time capturing dedicated close-ups of all of Baby’s ultra-cute bits, like eyelashes, nose, hands and feet.
The packages I offer as a newborn photographer are:
1) Newborn BABY Photography BASIC PACKAGE – £250
The full £250 package price is payable before your session takes place, with £100 due when you confirm your slot in my diary. The other £150 becomes due 48 hours prior to the newborn photo shoot itself (please contact me as soon as practical after Baby arrives to arrange the actual date/time for this).
At the end of the newborn photo session, I’ll go away and edit the images that I think (hope!) you’ll like in both colour and black & white. Watermarked low-resolution samples will be uploaded to a password-protected gallery on the website, where you’ll be able to choose the images you would like to get printed.
This package includes:
- Up to 3 hours in my newborn photography studio with my assistant (a qualified paediatric first aider who will assist with posing Baby and outfit changes) and I;
- 5x prints of your choice at up to 18″x12″;
- Fully-edited, high-resolution digital image files of the images you select for printing in both colour and black & white provided on a password-protected download link, which are licensed to you (I retain the copyright, so you cannot sell them to a third party), allowing you to send them to friends and family or print them however you wish;
- A guarantee that if Baby does not allow me to get the bare minimum of 20 usable images from the shoot that you will be welcome to return and try again;
- An album on my Facebook business page featuring a minimum of 5 low-resolution images from our shoot;
Additional images can be purchased at a cost of £12.50 each. This includes a print at up to 18″x12″, plus the associated high-resolution digital files (supplied in both colour and black & white).
If you spend an extra £250 on additional images, I will throw in all of the edited high-resolution digital files from the session in both colour and black and white.
Qualifiers will also receive a £50 credit towards a future booking with me and a 25% discount on my new range of stunning heirloom print products.
Please note that you do not need to decide on a package until after you have viewed your gallery. The full £250 Newborn Baby Photography Basic Package fee is due before your session takes place regardless.
2) Digital-Only Newborn Photography Package – £450
You might not automatically think it, but the high-resolution digital files from your newborn baby photo session are the most valuable part. They are what enables you to print and keep printing the images captured.
By the time you get to see the gallery from your newborn photo shoot, I will have already spent several hours editing the pictures. I use an amazing printer for the prints supplied within my packages, and the reduction in cost for a digital-only package is unlikely to be as significant as you might expect. However, people keep asking, so…. 🙂
Those wanting to receive ALL the edited high-resolution digital files from their session have three options:
- If you DO NOT wish to receive any prints at all, the total cost is £450 (including the £250 Newborn Baby Photography Basic Package fee). Delivery of the edited high-resolution digital files will be via a password-protected digital download link.
- If you DO wish to receive the 5x up to 18”x12” prints from the Newborn Baby Photography Basic Package, the add-on cost is £225 (making your total spend £475). Delivery of the edited high-resolution digital files will be via a password-protected digital download link. Your prints will be shipped to your mailing address.
- If your total spend from the session is £500 or higher (Newborn Baby Photography Basic Package + £250 of add-on purchases, either extra prints or wooden USB / print box combinations – see below; NB – Heirloom Print Product purchases do not count towards this), you will automatically receive all the edited digital files from the session. If you take a wooden USB / print box combination, the high-resolution digital files will be copied to your USB. If not, they will be available via a password-protected digital download link.
Everyone spending £450 or more on an All-Digitals package will receive a £50 credit towards a future booking with me and will qualify for a 25% discount on my new range of stunning heirloom print products.
Please note that you do not need to decide on a package until after you have viewed your gallery. The full £250 Newborn Baby Photography Basic Package fee is due before your session takes place regardless.
Optional Extras – Heirloom Print Products
New for 2024, a brand new range of stunning heirloom print products is now available, specifically chosen to show off the images of your new arrival in incredible detail. Please see the separate link above.
A 25% discount off list prices is available to anyone meeting the spending criteria detailed above.
Optional Extras – Wooden Presentation Box & USB Stick Combo
Large print box, ebony USB stick & prints – £250
The large wooden print box accepts 12″x8″ prints and has a slot for a branded wooden USB stick, which you also receive. The add-on price of £250 includes an additional 20 12″x8″ prints. Choosing this add-on item will take your total spend from the session to £500, meaning you will automatically receive all of the edited high-resolution digital files from the session. The files will be copied to your USB stick and you will be granted print rights to their reproduction for personal use.
Small Laser-Cut Heart Print Box, Wooden USB Stick & Prints – £250
This small wooden presentation box features four laser cut-out heart patterns on the box lid and is proving particularly popular with clients. It comes with a branded wooden USB stick and 50x 6″x4″ prints. Choosing this add-on item will take your total spend from the session to £500, meaning you will automatically receive all of the edited high-resolution digital files from the session. The files will be copied to your USB stick and you will be granted print rights to their reproduction for personal use.
