Hanwood Park is a huge new development on the eastern edge of Kettering. Spanning an enormous 332 hectares, the site will eventually provide up to 5500 homes, five schools, shops, facilities for the local community, as well as places of work, green spaces and leisure facilities.
The Hanwood Park story is still very much in its infancy, but it does already have a very vibrant and bustling community spirit, thanks in no small part to the work of the Hanwood Park Residents Association.
This was already in evidence in June, when a Jubilee Street Party was held to celebrate (now late) Her Majesty Queen Eliazabeth II’s 70 years on the throne.
It was a grey, damp day on Sunday, 5th June 2022, albeit not as damp as all the forecasts suggested it would be! That being the case, attendance was very good, with lots of families out enjoying the wide range of activities, entertainment and catering that had been arranged.
Master of Ceremonies duties went to Mr Big Bopper himself, Damian Cox, who was in charge of dog, cake and fancy-dress competitions.
The Tara Horgan Choir & Vicki Becks each performed a number of songs.
Corby & District Model Railway Society were in attendance with a ride-on Class 37 locomotive.
Tango Northampton put on a live dance demonstration.
Cheeky Moo Face Painting & Alison Bessant were each responsible for the many amazing looking pieces of art adorning many of the children’s faces.
Janet’s Wood Fired Pizza, Sil & M Catering Services & Gallone’s were all providing food.
This was the first of a number of events I photographed for Hanwood Park in 2022, and I look forward to working with them more in the future.
