Now, you’re probably wondering how you hold a model airshow in the dark?  Well, quite simply, you strap fireworks to your model aircraft and release an additional raft from the ground!  The whole thing was accompanied by music, and it made for a really good night.

Guy Westgate’s gliderFX opened the show with a full-scale pyro show.

The Sukhoi Su-26MM models looked awesome.

This incredible model was capable of projecting images on to its rotor blades.

It wasn’t all aircraft, however, and there was even a fire performer, which again was quite different.

He’s the fire starter, twisted fire starter!

Truly spectacular!

I honestly think most people would have enjoyed the night whether they had an interest in aviation or not, and for £8 a head (under-16s go free) you really couldn’t go wrong.  It certainly would not have looked out of place had it been held a few weeks later and billed as a fireworks display.

Just look at how many fireworks are strapped to the bottom of this remote-controlled helicopter!

On Sunday I head back out to China for the final time this year, albeit for only a few days, and I have got a couple of photographic sessions booked in for after my return.  I’m particularly looking forward to my first newborn baby photography sitting!
